ON A LONG MISTY NIGHT Georgie Fame gave me this Tadd Dameron tune to learn on a concert date. It's a little gem. Thanks, Georgie.
WHY DID I CHOOSE YOU? A lovely ballad from a Broadway show "The Yearling". It's too good a song to become popular - that's why we're plugging it here.
SONG TO THE AVON This piece I have dedicated to my hometown Christchurch and its lovely river Avon - real parochial stuff!
SOFT AS SILK I wrote this tune in 1983 but never got round to playing it. Finally I've made it. A solo piano arrangement.
SALGUOD If you're curious to know the meaning of this title it's just my Christian name spelt in reverse! A be-bop style "head".
LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke are the ultimate songwriting duo and here's one of their great standards arranged for solo piano.
WALTZ FOR HELEN This little tune I wrote for my wife. She liked it - I'm pleased.
LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY This beautiful song was written by Jerome Kern, my favourite composer of popular ballads. A solo piano treatment here.
HOLTON We recorded this album at "Holton", so it's only appropriate I should write a piece in honour of the place and the occasion.
BLAME IT ON MY YOUTH This is a really beautiful song enhanced by Kevin's lyrical bass solo and Ted's sympathetic drumming throughout.
SEPTEMBER IN THE PARK This piece is from a little suite I wrote a few years back and is intended to convey to the listener early spring in a city park. Once again, Kevin's solo is a stunner.
DREAMS Another original composition which has an easy to remember melody embellished by single note and block chord passages.
